  • Printing & paper sizes

Open the PDF with Adobe Reader and print at "actual size". Do not use "fit to page" or "shrink to fit" — those resize the pattern and the pieces will not line up.

Larger patterns are spread across several sheets. Print them all, line up the marks, and tape the sheets together before you start cutting.

Very accurate pattern that creates a great Hat, Tony's stuff is quality!

If you follow the patterns and video instructions closely you will have an enjoyable project. I chose to drill all the holes with a 1.3mm bit in a dremmel rather than punch them. The hand sticthing takes time and patience. I went with a single coating of Fiebings Black dye as I want a vintage look with the veg tan showing through in areas, I will add a hat band later. Maybe not a first project if you are new to leathercrafting.

“From First Stitch to Favorite Hat”

This was the very first hat I ever made, and it quickly became my favorite. I honestly had no idea it would turn out this comfortable or look this good when finished.

The best feeling is when people ask where I bought it, and I get to smile and say, “I made it myself.”

As someone living with Multiple System Atrophy, projects like this give me purpose, focus, and a real sense of accomplishment.

    Pork Pie Hat

I didn't know if I would like the Hat, but I had this amazing Chrome Tan leather... I went against Tony's advice but it's still quite alright! and then I made a blue one in Veg Tan with lining. I love Tony's stuff!
